N. Rangasamy Sworn In as Puducherry Chief Minister for Record Fifth Term
N. Rangasamy was sworn in as Puducherry Chief Minister for a record fifth term after the National Democratic Alliance secured victory in the Assembly elections. Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan administered the oath at Lok Nivas, while BJP leader A. Namassivayam and AINRC leader Malladi Krishna Rao joined the new three-member council of ministers.
Alongside Rangasamy, Bharatiya Janata Party leader A. Namassivayam and All India N.R. Congress leader Malladi Krishna Rao were sworn in as ministers, forming a compact three-member council of ministers at the beginning of the new administration.
The swearing-in ceremony followed the National Democratic Alliance’s victory in the April 9 Assembly elections. The results, declared on May 4, gave the alliance a commanding majority with 18 seats in the 30-member Assembly. Rangasamy-led All India N.R. Congress emerged as the dominant force within the alliance by securing 12 seats, strengthening Rangasamy’s position as the central figure in Puducherry’s political landscape.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the newly sworn-in government and praised Rangasamy as an experienced administrator committed to development and governance. Senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party also extended their greetings, expressing confidence that the new administration would accelerate growth and infrastructure expansion in the tourism-driven union territory.
Rangasamy’s fifth term as Chief Minister underlines his enduring influence in Puducherry politics and reinforces the National Democratic Alliance’s growing political footprint in the region. The formation of the new government is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the administrative and economic direction of the union territory in the coming years.
